Solo Travel Is for Every Woman

When many women hear the phrase solo travel, their first instinct is, “That’s not for me.” Maybe you’re married and think it’s only something for single women. Or maybe you’re widowed and wonder if traveling alone would just feel…lonely. But here’s the truth I’ve learned, both as a personal coach and a seasoned solo traveler:
Solo travel is for every woman.
Whether you’re happily married and just craving time for an activity your spouse or partner isn’t into (maybe you love wine tasting and they don’t), married but needing space while your spouse or partner pursues their hunting, fishing, golfing or sports interests, divorced and finding your footing again, widowed and redefining your next chapter, or single and loving your independence—solo travel offers something powerful, personal, and transformational just for you.
Married Women: Time Apart Can Bring You Closer
Let’s clear this up: taking a solo trip doesn’t mean something is wrong at home. In fact, many happily married women are embracing solo travel as a chance to rest, reflect, and return more grounded and grateful. You don’t stop being you just because you said “I do.” You still have dreams, passions, and curiosity to explore. Whether it's a wellness retreat, a coastal escape, or a weekend to journal, solo travel lets you nourish the woman within the wife.
And if you’re married but feeling stuck or unseen? Solo travel can be the reset button you need. A few days away—just you and your thoughts—can lead to clarity, confidence, and courage. Sometimes, stepping out helps you see your life more clearly.
Divorced or Widowed: It’s Your Turn Now
I’ve coached women post-divorce or after loss who tell me, “I’m scared to travel alone.” And that’s understandable—fear is normal when everything feels new. But guess what? You’ve already survived hard things. Travel isn’t about running away; it’s about returning to yourself.
When you’re no longer part of a “we,” traveling solo is an act of self-respect. It says, I deserve joy. I deserve adventure. I deserve to take up space in this big, beautiful world. And you absolutely do.
Single Women: Keep Flying Free
For single women, solo travel can feel natural—but it’s not without its challenges. Safety, stigma, and the occasional lonely moment are real. But so is the freedom. The growth. The confidence that comes from navigating a new city on your own, making friends along the way, and proving to yourself just how capable you really are.
And here’s the secret: once you travel solo, you carry that strength back into every part of your life. Work. Relationships. Decisions. You trust yourself more deeply because you’ve been out there, choosing your own adventure.

Your Life Is Waiting—Don’t Delay
Too many women say, “Maybe when I retire…when the kids are older…when I have someone to go with.” But life isn’t on layaway. You don’t have to wait for permission, a partner, or the perfect timing. All you need the willingness to say yes to yourself.
So whether you're married, divorced, widowed, or proudly single, I want you to know: Traveling solo is not a last resort—it’s a bold, beautiful choice.
And you, my friend, are absolutely worth the journey.
